We offer two main types of waterproofing finishes for your balcony, patio, or terrace: knockdown texture finish and composite tile finish. Both get installed after the waterproofing system dries and your builder is done putting up stucco or siding. Finish work begins with Phase 2 of our waterproofing process. We first use hand trowels to apply a layer of high-traffic cement over the top of the waterproofing system. Then we do the actual finish work. With knockdown texturing, installation is complete after Phase 2. Using composite tile adds a third phase because the cement has to cure before we lay tile.
Knockdown texture finish
Knockdown texture is commonly used with drywall, but it makes a great waterproofing finish for a balcony or outdoor area, as well. It uses a mottled pattern that provides more character than a flat finish, but is less intense than orange peel. It offers a simple, elegant appearance that is easy to clean, maintain, and repair.
If you prefer a knockdown texture finish, we apply the finish with a sprayer after the high-traffic concrete sets. Then we knock down the peaks to create the final smoothed-off look. After that, we spray on the color of your choice. Once it dries, your balcony is complete. We then clean up and get out of your way to leave you to enjoy your new space.

Composite tile waterproofing finishes
If you prefer composite tile instead of a textured finish, we go ahead and lay the high-traffic cement during Phase 2. But then we leave it to dry and cure fully before installing the tile. So if you go with tile, we come back for Phase 3 to finish up. When choosing waterproofing finishes, make sure to plan for the extra day of installation for tile.
